Heather Widdows

Heather Widdows is a moral philosopher working on the modification of bodies, the rising demand of beauty, addressing lookism and the way that selfie culture is shaping what it means to be human. She has worked on global ethics, reproductive rights, and genetic ethics. Her most recent book, Perfect Me: Beauty as an Ethical Ideal (Princeton University Press), was widely acclaimed inside and outside academia. It was listed by The Atlantic as one of the 19 best books of 2018, by Edarabia as one of the 100 books to read in a lifetime, described by Vogue as “groundbreaking” and prize-winning journalist, Bri Lee, said that Perfect Me “freed me from years of accidentally accumulated bullshit thinking” in her article ‘Books That Changed Me’.
Heather is the founder of the #everydaylookism campaign and has an on-line collum on Psychology Today. She is experienced at working with policy makers and campaigners and frequently appears in the media. |
